Why is Jerusalem called the Holy Land, and the Focus of World Attention?

Why has Jerusalem become a Cup of Trembling to Most of the World Today?

What will this Global Battle Over Jerusalem Lead to?

“…..And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem” (Zech. 12:4-9).

Folks, if the Bible is not the inspired word of God, then it must have been written by the most intelligent being in the universe because no
other holy book has prophesied (Predicted) so many world events thousands of years ago that have all become true as the Holy Bible has.

Many bible prophesies about Israel and Jerusalem which were all foretold thousands of years ago have all come true!

Jerusalem

Let’s consider the mother of all fulfilled Prophecies: After being exiled for 1,897 years, going back to 70 AD Israel once again regained control of Jerusalem in 1948 (Ezekiel 28:25, Ezekiel 39:27, Isaiah 56:8, Isaiah 60:8-10, Isaiah 60:14).  This is a big time fulfillment of hundreds of bible verses forecasting the rebirth of Israel with its capital Jerusalem. Jesus himself predicted the total destruction of Jerusalem that would occur in AD 70.  We read about his prophecy in Mathew 24:1-2 and also in Mathew 23:37-39.

Here is a major fulfilled prophecy of Israel being regathered to her land in the last days: Ezekiel 28:25 “‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When I gather the people of Israel from the nations where they have been scattered, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob.

In Joel 3:2, the Lord says, I will also gather all nations…and will pronounce sentence on them there for my people and my heritage Israel, whom they scattered among the nations, and divided my land.” O how the deeds of men bring destruction to nations.”

Folk’s there is no question that what we have just read is some serious prophecy and it continues today, with most nations wanting to divide up Israel and Jerusalem, for the sake of “peace”.  This peace is an ungodly and unholy kind of “peace”.  The Nations are under the spell of Satan.  The world leaders cannot understand that the consequence of dividing up Israel for the sake of “peace” only hurts Israel and threatens Israel’s (the people of the promise) very existence, and wouldn’t Satan just love that!

The Controversy over Jerusalem

What is incredible to ponder is that the world consists of 196,939,900 square miles and Jerusalem occupies only 49 square miles!  Yet there is all of this rage, controversy, jealousy, and turmoil over such a tiny parcel of land.  In fact, the fight for Jerusalem will lead mankind to the final global war, which will result in the death of billions of souls (yes, and all of this is prophesied in the bible), most will not even know why they went to war to begin with?  As we will learn there is a very sinister plot behind all of this!

There is no place on this planet that is more fiercely contested than those few acres of land located on the east side of the old city
of Jerusalem above the Kidron Valley. Christians and Jews call it “The Temple Mount” (Jerusalem), because that is where the two ancient Jewish temples were located. The beginning of this interesting transformation whereby Jerusalem has become such a holy place, goes way back to the time of Abraham.  In Genesis 22 where Abraham is tested into bringing his only son, Isaac, to a place where God commands him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. God, intervened of course, and personally provided a ram for sacrifice instead of Isaac. The point is, the place where God sent Abraham was Mount Moriah (Jerusalem), which is today called the Temple Mount (Jerusalem). Both the event and the place eventually became exceptionally significant for Abraham’s descendants through Isaac.

Furthermore, prophecy indicates that the third temple will be built on the same spot (Jerusalem), which will be directly related to the Eastern Gate (Ezekiel 43:1-4), the most famous, but closed, entrance to the mount.  Many believe that God will establish his kingdom on earth with its center being the holy city – Jerusalem!

The Arabs call it “Haram Ash-Sharif“, because in the religion of Islam that is the place from which Mohammad ascended into heaven.

The hatred of the Jews and their current control over Jerusalem is the center of the controversy that Zechariah 12:2-3 and Zechariah 14:1-3 speaks of reserved for the last days. These verses tell us that Jerusalem would become the center of world controversy. I think you would agree with me that Jerusalem and Israel seems to occupy the world news and events so far in 2012 (just like it did in 2011,  and so forth).

All of this chaos over Jerusalem is because Satan is working real hard behind the scenes feeding all of the nations of the world a  delusion which makes them want to hate and attack tiny Israel, in a quest for a false peace.   These nations have no clue that what they are really doing is they are siding with Satan in his fight against God, his chosen people, and his land – Jerusalem.  They will be deceived by Satan into believing that the destruction of Israel somehow will usher in some kind of peace – when in fact it will lead us all to armaggedon….and this time it will not be an exciting movie – it will be a literal hell on earth!!!  Satan wants the Jews destroyed because through the Jews God’s plans for man’s salvation will be fulfilled and they will finally as a nation know Jesus as their Savior.

If Satan can occupy Jerusalem, he believes it would thwart God’s divine plans to return to earth and establish the Messiah’s kingdom here on earth – through the gateway of Jerusalem.  This would give Satan more time to finish off with all mankind.  This is why Jesus prophesied that if he does not intervene against Satan’s plan and return when he does, that all mankind would perish. Now, we know that Satan cannot thwart God’s plans because God is all-powerful, so he won’t succeed in killing all of the Jews, Christians, and those who attempt to protect God’s children, although many will be martyred in the last days because of their testimony and allegiance to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

In Joel 3:2, the Lord says, “I will also gather all nations…and will pronounce sentence on them there for my people and my heritage Israel, whom they scattered among the nations, and divided my land.” O how the deeds of men bring destruction to nations.

Gos also says: “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem.  On that day when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves” (Zech 12:1-3).

Psalm 83 warns all of those nations that continue to threaten Israel in an effort to “…destroy them as a nation, that the name
of Israel be remembered no more” (Psalm 83:4).

The issue of ownership of Jerusalem will not be settled until the world can figure out who is God.  That question will not be settled until Jesus reveals Himself to the world as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” at His second coming, and that will not happen until the end of the tribulation

Jerusalem Belongs to God:

The truth of the matter is that Jerusalem belongs to God because he has declared such.  God then granted custody of the entire area to the descendants of Abraham through Isaac (Genesis 15:18ff; 17:18-21). Presently the entire world, including the systematized, organized and many of the self-authorized last-day churches recoils at this answer.  But ONLY God has the final say…nations, religious systems  nor man have any say.  Perhaps they all need to heed the following warning from God:  “…..And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem” (Zech. 12:4-9).

Jerusalem may be very special for Jews, Muslims and Christians – but this is most out of religious and political arrogance more than anything else… perhaps mixed in with some jealousy, hatred and satanic influences.  Jerusalem is special to God because this is where he chose to build his temple!  Jerusalem is also where the messiah’s feet will touch ground when he returns Jerusalem  is only special to Satan and all of the supernatural forces and principalities that he controls, because Satan believes that if somehow he can take control of Jerusalem away from God, then God and the Messiah cannot return to reclaim the earth and bring heaven down to earth as promised in Revelation!

This unholy battle for Jerusalem is a demonic deception and influence upon all leaders and nations of the world.  Satan compells them to hate Israel and the Jews for no apparent reason other than the fulfillment of Satan’s wishes to make a mockery of God’s chosen people, his land, and his promises in a sinister attempt to destroy all of God’s creation (the earth, animals, vegetation and mankind)!  All of this rage and hatred and jealousy against the people of the book (the Jews), comes straight out of hell!

Satan’s rage will wax very hot in the  last days, as he will know that his reign over the earth will be coming to an abrupt end.  So he will take out his hatred and jealousy against those that he hates the most; God’s chosen people and God’s land.

May God protect and shelter all of us who believe in the Messiah Jesus Christ, and in God’s word in the Bible. Let’s read and let’s……. “Seek the LORD, all the humble of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: perhaps you may be sheltered in the day of the LORD’s anger” (Zeph. 2:1-3).”

May God bless you,

Robert Rite
