Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)
A lot of times when we read these longer sentences, the main point can get lost. But let’s not lose sight of Paul’s main point. What is it?
Therefore…we have peace with God.
Let those words sink in.
“I have peace with God.
I used to be his enemy. But now I have been reconciled to him. I have peace with him.”
“So when trials come, it’s not God’s way of punishing me for my mistakes.
“I have peace with him. I stand in his grace.
“And he pours out his love on me daily.”
So don’t get discouraged when trials hit.
Don’t think God is punishing you.
Jesus already took your punishment on the cross.
You have peace with God now.
Let’s hold on to that truth, especially during the hard times.
It’s our hope.
God and his faithful love toward us is our hope.
And ultimately, that hope won’t disappoint us.
