Listening to our Lord

Psalm 49

Hear this, all you peoples;
listen, all who inhabit the world,
both low and high,
rich and poor together.

My mouth speaks wisdom;
my heart’s meditation brings understanding. (Psalm 49:1-3)

I was thinking this morning that those could be our Lord’s words to us.

He is the one who paid on the cross a ransom we could not pay, the one who will redeem us from the grave. (Psalm 49:7-9, 15)

But where are my priorities? What am I putting my trust in?

Money? Or his words?

Do I seek to understand and practice his words as much as I pursue financial security?

I know what my heart says. But what do my actions say?

Lord, let me treasure your words more than my daily food. (Job 23:12)
