I call to God Most High,
to God who fulfills his purpose for me. (Psalm 57:2)
I was thinking on those words this morning. Here was David, hiding from Saul in a cave. And yet he still trusted God would keep his promises and fulfill his purpose for David by making him king.
And ultimately, God did.
Not because David was always such a faithful guy.
But because that’s the kind of God he is.
As David put it,
For your faithful love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches the clouds. (Psalm 57:10)
That gives me hope.
I sometimes wonder how much of a difference I make in the lives around me.
But God will fulfill his purpose for me.
Not because of how faithful I am.
But because of how faithful he is.
That’s an amazing thing to ponder.
I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.For your faithful love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches the clouds.God, be exalted above the heavens;
let your glory be over the whole earth. (Psalm 57:9-11)
