A prepared people

Luke 1

And he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.” (Luke 1:17)

I was thinking this morning on what the words, “a prepared people” mean.

It strikes me that a prepared people is a people whose hearts are soft to God.

I think Mary was a perfect example of a “prepared people.”

Like Abraham, she believed her Lord’s words. She believed that he is good and that he would do all he promised. (Luke 1:45)

And because of that, she was quick to “yes” to her Lord. (Luke 1:38)

I want to be like Mary. I want to be a “prepared people”, fully trusting my Lord and quick to say yes to him.
