It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:31-32)
Jesus, as you called Peter, as you called Matthew, you call me.
That’s amazing to me. That with my past sinful life, that even with my current struggles with sin, you’d still want to call me. But you do.
You simply call me to repent. To leave behind my old sinful, self-sufficient life. And to follow you. To embrace your call into the kingdom.
Not just to enjoy it. But to be an active part of it, bringing others out of the kingdom of darkness and into your marvelous light. Just as you called Peter to do. And as Matthew seemed to do right from the start.
You don’t want to be a new patch on my old life.
Nor can I hold on to my old life and expect you to pour something new into it.
You want to make me completely new.
Make me completely new.
Renew me, step by step, from glory to glory, moment to moment, day to day.
