“I have forgiven you”

Luke 7

Then [Jesus] said to her, “Your sins are forgiven. (Luke 7:48)

I was thinking on those words this morning..

Put another way, Jesus was telling that woman, “I have forgiven your sins.”

The Pharisees certainly interpreted Jesus’ words that way. And Jesus did nothing to disabuse them of that interpretation.

“I have forgiven your sins.”

Some people, like the Pharisees, will never let us forget our past sins.

So often, we can’t even forgive ourselves.

Can we believe Jesus when he says, “I have forgiven your sins”?

Regardless of whether we feel it’s true or not, that’s what he tells us.

So let his words sink in. Let them shape you.

“<Your name>, I have forgiven you.”
