To be like you

[Jesus] welcomed them, spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. (Luke 9:11)

I was thinking on those words today.

Is that what Jesus’ church does?

Is it what his people do?

Most importantly, is it what I do?

Do I welcome people, or do I keep them at a distance? Worse, do I ever push some away?

Do I speak to them about God’s Kingdom?

Namely, do I tell them our good King has come? Do I help them to see him as he is? Do I tell them what he is doing in this broken world? Am I inviting them to turn from how they’ve been seeing their King and to embrace him and his Kingdom?

And do I help bring his healing to their broken lives?

Lord, help me to be like you, bringing your Kingdom into people’s lives.
