When I was a teenager, I heard a Christian singer named David Meece say something that has resonated with me ever since. He said something to the effect of, “Christianity is a relationship, something you do moment to moment, day to day, not just something you do once a week and forget about.”
And thus, the title of this blog. (New title, for those of you who have been with me for a while).
My desire is to walk moment to moment, day to day with my Lord. The picture above of my daughter and I is meant to be a reflection of that: a walk of joy and trust in my Heavenly Father.
Originally, this blog started out as my personal journey through the Bible. It’s of course possible to duplicate my journey by starting at the first article and clicking on all the subsequent articles in order.
However, I have since organized all the articles by book in the menus, and you can use these pages for your own personal “through the Bible” reading plans.
Anyway, since finishing that 6-year trek through the Bible, my writings have become more purely devotional in nature, reflecting my prayers and thoughts on the passage of scripture I’m reading that day. These newer articles can be accessed by pressing the “Devotional Readings” button at the bottom of the table of contents page for each Bible book.
I do regularly post on this blog, usually three times a week or so, so if you subscribe, you’ll be able to read my thoughts on the passages I read for the week.
Two quick notes:
- In my initial trek through the Bible, I read through the Bible chronologically. As a result, the articles might not necessarily be in chapter order. This was especially true for Jeremiah, and so I made a specific page for Jeremiah ordering it by chapters.
- I harmonized the gospel accounts and Old Testament historical accounts and so all stories describing the same account are put into the same blog articles.
My hope is that through this blog, you can better understand the scriptures, and draw near to God in that moment to moment, day to day relationship. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to write them in the comments sections.
May God richly bless you as you read.
