So running ahead, [Zacchaeus] climbed up a sycamore tree to see Jesus, since he was about to pass that way. (Luke 19:4)
I was thinking this morning about how embarrassed I would be to climb a tree like a little kid at my age.
And yet, Zacchaeus threw away his dignity and became like a little child.
I think I need more of Zacchaeus’ heart. There are times when I’m too self-conscious, worrying about what others think of me.
But when it comes to my relationship with Jesus, I want to throw that attitude out and focus on only three things: seeing, knowing, and pleasing him.
