Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you. (John 21:17)
Lord, you know that I love you.
Yet you also know that my love for you is far from perfect.
Sometimes I might be so enthusiastic for you that I’d jump into the ocean to go and greet you.
But other times…
Is it possible I could even deny you?
Lord, how does a love so perfect and pure accept a love so imperfect and so impure?
But Lord, you know all things.
You know that I love you.
And yet somehow, for now, that’s enough for you.
You loved me before I ever loved you.
Now by your faithfulness, perfect my love just as you did with Peter’s.
In the meantime, stumbling, faltering steps of a child though I may often take, I follow you, my good Lord.
