We are people also, just like you, and we are proclaiming good news to you, that you turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.
In past generations he allowed all the nations to go their own way, although he did not leave himself without a witness, since he did what is good by giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons and filling you with food and your hearts with joy.” (Acts 14:15-17)
I’ve really enjoyed reading Acts and taking a closer look at the God, the King, the apostles proclaimed.
The whole reason the apostles could proclaim the gospel so joyfully and call it “good news” was how they saw God.
How did they see him?
As a powerful, awesome God, who created heaven and earth.
As a loving and good God. One who poured out grace on a people who weren’t even seeking him.
And most importantly, as the living God who has now revealed himself. Who calls us to stop seeking worthless things that will ultimately pass away and leave us empty. Who instead calls us to seek him, the source of all life and joy.
That’s the God we proclaim.
And he is why the gospel is such awesome news.
