God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles would hear the gospel message and believe.
And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he also did to us.
He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith….
God first intervened to take from the Gentiles a people for his name. (Acts 15:7-9, 14)
I was pondering those words this morning.
God loved me before I ever loved him, intervening first in the lives of Cornelius and Peter 2000 years ago, and then more directly in my own life that he might take me to be his own.
He made a choice that by the mouth of a woman whose name and face I don’t even know, I would hear the gospel and believe in Jesus.
And then he bore witness to me by giving me the Holy Spirit. He made no distinction between me and any other Christian. He has fully accepted me. I am his child.
All this leaves me utterly speechless.
How about you?
Does God’s choosing of you leave you just as speechless?
