The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.
Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:6-9)
It struck me today that God is the kind of giver he desires us to be.
When it comes to the gospel, he doesn’t sow sparingly. He sows generously so that no good soil will be missed.
Nor is he a God that gives reluctantly. You don’t have to twist his arm to get him to give. He delights to give good gifts to his children, distributing his gifts freely.
He showed all that by giving us the indescribable gift of his Son.
That’s the kind of Giver he is.
That’s the kind of Father he is.
That’s the kind of God he is.
That’s the kind of person I want to be.
He distributed freely;
he gave to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever. (2 Corinthians 9:9)
Father, I want to be like you.
