But thank God that, although you used to be slaves of sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching to which you were handed over… (Romans 6:17)
“From the heart.”
That’s the life of a Christian.
We live from the heart.
More, from a joyful heart.
At least we should be.
Is that the kind of heart I have when I think of what Jesus has done for me?
I can walk in the newness of life! I don’t have to wander around in the stench of sin and death. I get to walk in the fresh breeze of new life.
I am no longer enslaved to the sin which once bound me. It has no power over me. I am free!
I get to live for God now!
That’s the joy we should be living from.
That’s the joy I want to be living from.
Not thinking about the Christian life as a bunch of “have tos.”
But as an overabundance of “get tos.”
Why would we want to live any other way?
