Does a spring pour out sweet and bitter water from the same opening? Can a fig tree produce olives, my brothers and sisters, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a saltwater spring yield fresh water. (James 3:11-12)
Lord, what is the spring that is within me?
Saltwater?
Or freshwater?
I would like to think it’s fresh.
But does a freshwater spring produce salt water?
Why then does salt water still sometimes come out of my mouth?
You are the God who turns sources of bitter water into springs of freshwater. (Exodus 15:23-25)
Do the same with my heart, that every word I speak may bring life, not death to everyone who hears.
