Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
As I was reflecting on those words this morning, the thought occurred to me:
In all our thoughts, in our actions, we’re either actively submitting to the Lord or we’re resisting him.
Likewise, in all our thoughts and actions we’re either actively resisting the devil or we’re submitting to him.
There is no neutral ground.
I’d hate to think I’m ever resisting the Lord. But honestly, there are times I do, either in my thoughts or actions.
On the other hand, I’d hate to think I ever submit to the devil. But again, I have to admit there are I times I do.
And so my prayer today:
Lord, forgive me for the times this week that I’ve resisted you and submitted to the Enemy. Give me a heart that is submissive to you, always willing and ready to do your good will.
