Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God, and who is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would ask him, and he would give you living water.”
…whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again. In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up in him for eternal life.” (John 4:10, 14)
“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again….
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever.
(John 6:35, 51)On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”
He said this about the Spirit. (John 7:37-39)
Jesus, you are the Living Bread from heaven. Let me feed on you.
Your words bring me eternal life. Not just life that leads to heaven, but life here on earth.
So let me feed on every word you speak, believing them, letting them go from my head to my heart to my hands. Let them nourish my soul, encouraging me and transforming my way of thinking moment to moment, day to day.
Let me also feed daily on your love and grace. The love and grace you showed at the cross where you gave your life for the life of the world. And not only for the world, but for me.
More, constantly pour out the Living Water of your Spirit into my soul that I might never thirst again. Let him dwell in me, watering me, guiding me, and empowering me to do your work.
Jesus, be my Living Bread.
Spirit, be my Living Water.
