That God’s word would prevail

the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high esteem.

And many who had become believers came confessing and disclosing their practices, while many of those who had practiced magic collected their books and burned them in front of everyone. So they calculated their value and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.

In this way the word of the Lord spread and prevailed. (Acts 19:17-20)

Having just finished reading 2 Thessalonians, it occurred to me that the Thessalonians’ prayers had great effect.

In addition, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. (2 Thessalonians 3:1)

Being here in Japan, that’s my prayer for this country.

But it’s also my prayer for me.

That I would always hold Jesus in high esteem, never taking him lightly, but always giving him the honor that he is due.

More, I’m praying that his word would spread to every aspect of my life–and prevail.
