First, they were entrusted with the very words of God.
What then? If some were unfaithful, will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?
Absolutely not! Let God be true, even though everyone is a liar… (Romans 3:2-4)
“They were entrusted with the very words of God.”
I was thinking on those words this morning.
Because as much as the Jews were entrusted with God’s words, how much more are we? We actually have all 66 books of the Bible easily available to all of us. That’s not something the Jews even of Paul’s day could say.
And yet, I was thinking about how I’m no better than the Jews were in a lot of ways. Because a lot of times, I’m not faithful in keeping those words either.
But the amazing thing to me is that though I’m unfaithful, God’s faithful.
I’ve sinned. I’ve fallen short. I’ve been unfaithful.
But in his faithfulness to me, God sent Jesus to the cross to pay for my sins.
Now, because of what Jesus did, God justifies me freely by his grace.
And again, all this is not because I’m so faithful to him. But because he’s so faithful to me.
That’s awesome to ponder.
